Energy With Julie

Meditating at Home During the Autumn Equinox

The Autumn Equinox is arriving on September 22nd this year, and with it marks a powerful seasonal shift. It’s a time when day and night balance equally, inviting us to find the balance within ourselves. This year, the equinox coincides with two eclipses, making September one of the most energetically potent periods of the year.

This seasonal energy isn’t something to fight against, it’s something we need to flow with. By slowing down, grounding ourselves, and embracing the natural cycles of letting go, we can turn this transitional time into one of reflection, healing, and renewal. That’s why I’m inviting you to learn how to meditate, so you can find that grounding energy within yourself.

I’ll help you meditate with a Reiki-infused sound bath! So keep reading to join me as I guide you through your at-home meditation.

Understanding the Energy of the Autumn Equinox

Autumn is an important time as it often triggers emotional and spiritual shifts within our bodies. The shortened daylight can heighten stress or fatigue, while the cooler winds whisper reminders of change. It’s natural to feel a bit unsettled as our inner rhythm tries to keep pace with the turning of the earth.

But Autumn also holds immense gifts. With its high energy and change, it is the season of release, a time to shed what no longer serves, just as the trees let go of their leaves. Through practices like meditation, Reiki, and grounding rituals, we can align with this natural flow. When we allow energy healing and awareness to work together, we invite clarity, peace, and even immune-boosting resilience into our daily lives. If you’re interested in learning more about all the ways seasons impact energy, I’ve written an article on Reiki Healing for Every Season here.

Meditation for the Autumn Equinox

Meditation during this time isn’t about perfection or forcing quiet. It’s about creating space within ourselves to stay calm, grounded, and connected as the energy around us rises and shifts.

Here are a few key things to focus on during your meditation:

Ground Yourself

When the energy feels heightened, grounding is essential. Imagine roots growing down from your body into the earth, anchoring you deeply. Breathe into this rootedness, allowing stress and scattered thoughts to flow downward into the soil. This practice restores balance and keeps you steady when life feels in flux.

Slow Down and Rest

The equinox reminds us to honour balance. Just as nature begins to slow down, so should we. Meditation can be as simple as a few mindful breaths, a body scan before bed, or sitting quietly with a cup of tea. Give yourself permission to rest more, to pause, and to take the slower path.

Respond with Love (Heart Chakra)

As emotions stir, meditation offers us a moment to pause before reacting. Focus your breath on the heart space. Visualize soft green light radiating outward. From this center, commit to responding to challenges with compassion and love, rather than reactivity.

Let Go of What No Longer Serves (Sacral Chakra)

The sacral chakra, our center of creativity and flow reminds us to release attachments that keep us stuck. In meditation, visualize orange light at your lower belly. As you exhale, imagine letting go of old habits, thought patterns, or even relationships that no longer align with your growth. Just like the trees, we can shed the old to make space for the new.

Embrace Change and Reflection

Autumn meditation isn’t only about letting go, it’s also about amplifying the energy of transformation. Sit with a journal after your meditation. What changes are you ready to welcome? What reflections are arising? This season is a potent invitation to realign with your values and your inner truth.

Sound Bath Relaxation, a Meditation with Reiki Healing Infusion

I encourage you to utilize my sound bath video below to help guide you during your meditation. I will show you how to meditate by guiding your focus as you listen. The video is only 20 minutes, so this is a perfect snapshot for a short moment of quiet and reflection during the busy season of autumn. If you’re interested in a longer session of self-care, I offer personalized sound baths at my studio.

Meditating at Home with a Guided Sound Bath

  1. Create your space – Find a quiet spot where you won’t be disturbed. Light a candle, burn a little incense, or bring in grounding items like a blanket or a favourite crystal.
  2. Get comfortable – Sit or lie down in a relaxed position. Close your eyes and take a few slow, deep breaths.
  3. Press play – Once you’re comfortable play my video from your phone or laptop. Try to make the volume an appropriate level so you can hear the resonance of the crystal singing bowls.
  4. Stay open – Don’t worry if your mind wanders. Gently bring your attention back to the tones and vibrations. Let the sound guide you back into the present moment.
  5. Reflect – Afterward, journal any insights or simply rest in the calm, grounded energy you’ve cultivated.

Flowing With the Season

The Autumn Equinox offers us a sacred reminder: life is a balance of light and dark, holding on and letting go. When we honour these cycles, we create harmony within ourselves. By leaning into meditation, grounding practices, and mindful rest, we can ride the waves of high energy with grace, clarity, and a heart-centered presence.

As these eclipses transform the sky, let them also transform your inner landscape. Breathe deeply. Root down. Let go. Step into this season of change with peace in your heart and trust in your path. 🤍
