Energy With Julie

This Summer Solstice Let’s Focus on Restoration

We’re quickly approaching the longest day of sun, the Summer Solstice. It’s one of my favourite times of year because the sun is such a revitalizing energy that helps to really offset the darkness that I’d grown accustomed to through the winter and early spring.

The summer invites us outside. Our calendars fill quickly with gatherings, vacations, celebrations, projects, and many people asking us to do more. We move from one experience to the next, often without pausing long enough to truly receive the beauty of the summer sun.

While there is nothing wrong with embracing the energy and excitement of summer, there is an important truth many of us forget:

We cannot continue pouring from an empty cup.

The Summer Solstice is often associated with the height of solar energy. The sun represents action, creation, movement, and outward expression. It is a powerful force that encourages growth and expansion, but nature itself reminds us that expansion must be balanced with restoration. Just as the earth requires periods of darkness, stillness, and replenishment, so do we.

The Power of "Rest to Receive"

We live in a culture that encourages us to hustle, to earn more money and not stop until we’ve lived out our ambitions. It doesn’t celebrate rest, it doesn’t let us actually sit in our accomplishments long enough to receive anything from them. Some of life’s most meaningful gifts arrive when we slow down. Our mind’s insight only arrives in stillness. Creativity emerges in spaciousness. Healing happens when the body feels safe enough to rest.

Making Space for Feminine Energy

The energy of summer naturally amplifies action, momentum, and outward focus. These qualities are associated with masculine energy, and while masculine energy helps us move forward, build, and create, it is only one part of the equation. To live in balance, we must also cultivate feminine energy, it’s the energy of receiving, intuition, presence, reflection, and being.

When we intentionally slow down, we allow ourselves to reconnect with this quieter wisdom that often gets drowned out by the noise of everyday life.

15 Minute Sound Bath for You

I encourage you to prioritize a restful moment for yourself. I’ve included a sound bath below that is focused on gentle uplift and realignment. It’s the perfect listen right after you have your morning coffee and before you begin work. It’s a beautiful way to relax and prioritize your mental well-being before starting for the day, and it will only take 15 minutes.

Give Yourself the Gift of Intentional Rest

While even a few moments of stillness can make a difference in your day to day, there is something deeply powerful about carving out dedicated time to nurture yourself. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, mentally busy, energetically drained, or simply craving a moment of peace, sound healing can help you return to your center.

For anyone who truly needs to prioritize their well-being, I recommend a one-on-one sound healing session with me in my Toronto studio. I’ll personalize the sound bath to your needs and help you heal through all-encompassing, full body vibrational sound.

Wishing You a Restful Summer Solstice

I urge you to remember that rest is not a reward. It is a necessity, it is medicine, and it is what your body has been asking for. Only when we rest can we finally receive, and you are deserving of so much for all the hard work you’ve put in.

Blessings for you this Summer Solstice.
